Homework

Homework forms a very important element of a child’s education and can add significantly much to a child’s development.

As the pupils move through school, so the amount of homework they receive will increase. You can expect Years 3 and 4 to do approximately one and a half hours’ homework per week, and children in Years 5 and 6 to carry out approximately two and a half hours’ homework each week.

A variety of homework activities may be set, ranging from reading with their parents to finding information or collecting things to be used in a future lesson. In Year 6, homework challenges are set each term; where pupils are encouraged to involve family members in their projects. When homework projects are completed, it is displayed for parents to come and see.

Early in the Autumn Term parents will be sent information regarding the expectations in each class.

In cases of long term absence work may be provided to help children keep in touch with the work of those in school.
